Hi-Stand® was established back in 1991 when we bred our first in hopes of showing Boxers. We had met and made friends with Joyce Waterfield of Scampan Boxers, and she agreed to breed our "Peg," a.k.a. Thompson's Peggy Sue to CH. School's Scampan Assignment. The litter produced our first two show prospects, "Maggie," a.k.a. Hi-Stand's Northern Exposure and "Victor," a.k.a. Assignment's High Standard. Both pointed but we decided we needed to continue to pursue the boxer standard and bred Maggie to her grandfather. Victor was never bred and still lives with us today.

I later purchased a brindle bitch from Della Callwell of School's Boxers, "Lizzie" a.k.a. CH. School's Hi-Rising Star-R-Liz. She was never bred.

Finding the art of breeding a little more complicated than I had imagine and we suffered some heart aches along the way. I stopped and reexamined the road I was traveling. After conferring with other breeders for their experiences, I was determined to purchase a good foundation sire. In 1998 I purchased "Vinnie," CH. Sarkel's Strength For Hi-Stands from Ann Gilbert of Sarkel Boxers. Ann had bred her outstanding bitch, "Colleen" a.k.a. CH. Sarkel's Still Steppin' Up to "Biff" a.k.a. CH. Hi-Tech's Arbitrage in November of 1997 and I was fortunate to have Ann trust me with a dog who's pedigree reflected success and commitment on both sides of his family tree.

Vinnie was later bred to one of my bitches and produced "Kelly," CH. Hi-Stands Signature of Sarkel. Her sister "Kate," a.k.a. Hi-Stand's Signature of Style is also near completing her championship. In 2001 Kelly was bred to "Dollar," AKA CH. Sarkel's True Grit and produced, "Collen" a.k.a. AM/CAN CH Hi-Stan's How Doya Like "Me" Now . He is co-owned by me and Ann Gilbert and is my proof I'm on the right track. He represents a smooth example of our standard with a short back, correct front, a long neck coming correctly out from the shoulders, a great topline and tail set as well as personality plus. Collen will officially enter the special's ring in 2004 with his best friend, Tess Savage.

Hi-Stands now has five champions to date bearing the Hi-Stand® name and there will be more to come! We have also finished our Lakeland Terrier, "Sonny," a.k.a. CH. Blackwatch's Hi-Velocity. Our latest project in another breed ring is , "Bing," a.k.a. Arista's Chandler "BING" a French Bulldog warming up in the wings.
